Canvas Painting- Spring

After a really long spell of dreary winter, I am all ready for spring....
Spring has always been one of my favorite seasons....
The burst of colors all around me, makes me feel really happy....
I am truly blessed to be able to enjoy the magnificence and the
ethereal beauty of the blossoms.....
And what better way to see it everyday than a painting!
This painting is one of my favorites, as I have gone completely out
of my comfort zone while painting this....
I have used many different self- taught techniques in this one for
the first time, and they turned out surprisingly well....
Well, here's the center of attention....My canvas Painting- "Spring"

Canvas Painting- "Spring"
I have used acrylics on a 16 X 20 pre-stretched canvas...
It is kind of a 3D painting with impasto effects.....
The sides are painted and it is ready to hang.....

Let me show you some close-ups

Krishna- Bejeweled Artwork

Hello.....
Here, I have a Bejeweled Art done on Krishna....the most loved Indian god....
This type of art is also known as "Shringar Art" in India.....
"Shringar" literally means "Make- up and Jewelry Adornment".
I have used a 16 x 20 Poster print of Krishna and used mixed media for this artwork....
I have individually stuck each and every bead and rhinestone with my own hands....
The "Murli" or the "Flute" is hand- moulded too......
The peacock feather on the crown is real too.....
This is completely a 3D artwork....

This is how, the Framed Artwork looks......

Shringar Artwork- Krishna

It took me a month (3 hrs/day) to finish this artwork......
It was a painstaking job, but the hard work did finally pay.....
The final result blew my brains away.....
It was beyond my own expectations.......
I was making this artwork for my sister's house-warming.....
She loved it so much that it is now, the Focal Wall art in
her Living room feature wall.....

DIY Butterfly Wall Hanging

Hello there......
With the harsh winter forcing us to coop up in our houses, I guess the creative energy kinda takes
over.....That goes for me....hope it does for you too :)
Today I made this Butterfly Wall Hanging......
You must be thinking why I keep making butterflies all the time ???
Well, what can I say???.....Butterflies are one of my favorites!!!!

DIY Butterfly Wall Hanging

Anyhow, I used these wooden butterfly cut-outs.....You can find them easily
at any Craft store.......They were pretty smooth, so I didn't sand them.....
And also, I wanted that slightly grainy look on the butterfly's wings.......

Wooden Butterfly Cut- outs

Then, I painted a pair of blue butterflies, as shown below......
Yup, Blue is my favorite color......It is very dominant in most of my works......

Painted Blue Butterfly

When the butterflies were nice and dry, I assembled together the things that
I would require to make this Wall hanging.......
Shown in the picture are:
  • Pair of Painted Blue Butterflies
  • Medium and small circle mirrors
  • Green Ribbon
  • Key Ring and
  • Glue gun

Materials Required

I used the glue gun to fix the butterflies, mirrors and the key ring on the ribbon......
The final assembly looked like this......

Wall Hanging

I thought it needed something more ......just a wee bit more, to make it perfect......
So, I used my favorite stuff....3D outliner (Puffy paint)........
I put tiny dots of blue along the edge of the mirrors......and that just did it!!!

Mirror

Here's how the wall hanging looks on the wall, next to my 'Blossom Branch' Painting.....
You can view the painting here......

Canvas Painting - Twisters

Hello there.....
I am back after a certain gap....A lot of things kept me busy for quite some time....
I was making some or the other thing, but just wasn't finding the time to put anything
up on the blog.......Thanks for coming to check though :)
Today, I have put up pictures of these three mini canvas paintings I made recently.....
I call them 'Twisters'.......
The name kinda says it all here.....

Twisters

I have used 3 canvases of 6' X 6' each......
Here are the individual close-ups.......
As you can see here, the striations are raised, thus giving the painting its unique texture.....

Canvas Painting

The photos don't really do much justice to this beautiful raised effect though....

DIY Kids Nursery Wall Art

Hi.....
I am a newbie to the "blog" world, having entered the scene only a few months back,
and still learning......
But, I am not new to making something beautiful.....
This applies to my crafts, but also to my little angel whom I "made" almost 6 years back..... :)
I was just browsing through his baby photos when I came accross this one....
How time flies!!!....I had even forgotten about this.....as the room looks so different after the renovations we did few years back....
Anyways, I wanted my son to enjoy his early life looking at something pretty....
Don't all moms think so???
Well, I decided to do something that would not take much time...you know how a newborn keeps the mommy on her toes!!!
I soooo wanted to paint the wall :(
But, the time crunch made me use another option.....paper decoupage!!!
With help(lots!!!)  from my little sister, I was able to finish this in two days..
( the two hour nap break, once a day :O)
My sister and I drew free- hand  figures of  Pooh, Tigger and Piglet on florescent paper to make them look more brighter and vibrant.....
Surprisingly, Piglet was the toughest to draw....I just couldn't get his "Happy Face" right
:(  .....But, persistence always pays and finally I got Piglet as I've always known him...happy and adorable :) He still is my favorite ........

Kids Nursery Wall Art

We cut the figures across their outlines and finished them with some poster colors
and a black marker.....
I also folded a long strip ( made by joining a few smaller strips) of green paper and cut it to look like grass.....Some leftover paper from Piglet, got transformed into a few gorgeous flowers.....
I wanted the trio to look as if they were playing in a garden.....but that scene somehow looked a bit empty.....
Then, I thought of giving them some balloons to play, to fill up the area.....
Suddenly, an idea struck.....Why not make this a picture wall???
We first glued the grass and then glued Pooh, Tigger and Piglet.....
After that, we glued down the flowers, the balloon strings and the balloons.....
The bright balloons became the base for the baby pictures.....
We glued the baby pictures and then, put a fancy printed fabric border around them.....
My nursery mural was now complete....
My baby couldn't take his eyes off the wall for a long time.....
That told me- Mission Accomplished !!!!
There we were....a happy mom and a very happy baby.....
I have blurred the pictures for privacy reasons.....Sorry about that!!!
Hope you enjoyed the post.....I had fun going back to those memories again......
Have fun and thanks for visiting :)

DIY Instant Wall Art- 2

Hello and welcome to view my Instant Wall Art-2....
I call it so because a few days back, I uploaded a post on Instant Wall art- Shoebox Lid Upcycling.....You can see the post by clicking here.
I made this wall art in a similar fashion using a shoe box lid and a scrapbook paper.

Instant Wall Art- Shoe box Lid Upcycling
This is the shoe box Lid I used for this wall art....

Shoe box Lid
This wall art is little different by accident!!! Funny Story :)....
Let me tell you.....
The scrapbook paper comes in a specific size and it fit my earlier shoebox lid perfectly....
However, this lid belonged to my beloved hubby's shoebox......it was a huge box!!!
It had to be....These were the shoes!!!!

So imagine my despair when the paper kept falling short from all sides......
After racking my brains for quite some time, I still couldn't make it fit.....I thought of using two pieces of scrapbook paper, but I wasn't feeling very happy about the idea...... But, I was not ready to give up.....
And then, out of nowhere an idea struck!!!
I decided to give the frame a boxed look.....( a box for a box....lol)......
I cut the paper in a way that it fit on the box, leaving an uniform border all around.....

Scrapbooking Paper

Then I painted the border with black color.......
See how it looks here......

When the color dried completely, I glued the paper on to the box lid........
It turned out like this!!!

Shoe box Upcycling
Here's how it looks on the wall :)
The black border gives it a look of certain depth, which is what I like about this wall art....

Instant Wall Art

The beauty of this wall art is in its uniform design.....which gives me the flexibility to hang it any way I like.....It looks good horizontally, and equally good vertically!!! Ain't that awesome???It is, right???

I used scrapbook paper here, but you can use any gift wrapping paper with a uniform design too!!!
Hope you liked this......

I will be posting more stuff soon, so do keep coming back.....

DIY Instant Wall Art- Shoe Box Lid Upcycling

Hi....
Good to see you.....
This is an Instant Wall Art that I made......
They say, "Necessity is the mother of Invention".....
Wow, thats so true!!!!
I had guests coming over to our house in which we moved recently.....
So, my house isn't done sprucing up (read putting artwork) yet :)
And, I did not have time to go buy any.....so I made this!!!!!
This wall art is made from an old shoebox lid, I had lying around....
So, its a shoe box upcycling of sorts!!!

Instant Wall Art

Here's what I did....
I dusted up the cardboard box lid and then cut a scrapbook paper according to the box's
dimensions.....
The picture shows the paper cut to size....

Shoebox Lid Upcycling

Then I glued the paper to the box using regular PVA glue......
I had to take care to align the edges properly......
I let the lid dry for around 30 minutes.......

Shoebox Upcycling

After the paper dried, I colored the edges of the lid black......
The black color gives the lid a solid framed look.....
You can see it for yourself here......

Shoebox Lid Wall Art

This is how the artwork looks on the wall.....
Cool....isn't it....
Very easy to make and much easier on the pocket too ;)

Hope you found it interesting......

DIY Faux Metal Wall Art- Recycle Craft

Faux Metal Wall Art

Hi and welcome to my post on Faux Metal Wall Art......
This Wall art has a complete metallic look but is actually made from recycled cardboard, foil
and paper grocery bag !!!!
I had saved a nice stiff cardboard used for a curtain packaging......

Using the cardboard as a base, I started this piece......
I stuck two pieces of corrugated cardboard ( again, recycled) on the base....
To add some more texture I used some leftover knick-knacks from an old project on the sides......
Then I stuck crumpled foil all over the piece using PVA glue......

After smoothing with a Q-tip I got my finished base.......

Then came the butterfly project :)
I made three butterflies of varying size out of a grocery bag , using PVA glue and burning technique.....
The butterfly is shown below......

Metallic Butterfly
After brushing the butterfly with golden powder, it looked like this.....

 Metallic Gold Butterfly
Then I painted the edges of the butterfly with metallic blue to give it some contrast.....
Lastly, I attached floral wire antennae to it.....
I repeated the same procedure for other two butterflies as well...
After all the butterflies were done, I glued them to the base in descending order of their size.....

Faux Metal Butterfly

Finally I added a braided golden string to it for hanging.....
Thus, my recycled "Faux Metal" Wall Art was ready.......
This is how it looks on the wall......

I sold this artwork at a craft show recently :)
